Frequently Asked Questions

Here we try to answer some of the most common questions.

Question:

This website has taken a long time to appear. Why is that?

Answer:

The directors prevented access to the premises and were deliberately unhelpful in allowing many of their valuable volunteers access to pick up their own personal items from the station. Instead they chose to use a tin-pot firm of solicitors (which coincidentally closed a few months later) and send shirty accusational letters out. Whilst the directors dragged their heels as much as possible, being as deliberately awkward as possible, the case was on track to go to court.

In order to have a fair hearing, and not add bias to the matter, the website content was greatly reduced. After sustained legal effort, and a long-overdue begrudging co-operation to avoid a court case, limited access was finally given and most items were made available for collection. There have been a few residual matters to try and clear up, with the company Tynedale Community Radio Limited failing to honour it's debts to some of its suppliers (not any of the volunteers it should be stressed!).

Question:

I couldn't believe what the directors had said happened about...?

Answer:

That's probably because it isn't true!! Their technique is to fabricate such an awful story to get a response "gosh that's awful - I must help you". Always make your own mind up first. If something sounds completely irrational or unrealistic, then it probably is.

Question:

Could you please clarify as to the exsteering committee's motives/reactions when the letter was attempted to be given in? (RM)

Answer:

The Open Letter/Vote of No Confidence was sent by post to each of the three (at the time) directors. The reaction was that they closed the station, and circulated the Directors' Statement on the home page.

As soon as practicable the third director resigned, reflecting upon their fellow directors: "some of the things that have gone on are unbelievable".

The motives are outlined in the letter, which include a desire for the directors to stop over-promising and under-delivering. The Steering Group also deemed that continued unfounded, misjudged and often inaccurate accusations made in emails to individual volunteers were unprofessional, unacceptable and HAD to stop.

Comment:

Tynedale has lost community radio though you. (HC)

Response:

On the contrary - Community Radio in Tynedale took off thanks to the former steering group volunteers and presenters. They brought together Tynedale, with a broad range of programmes, and comprehensive local news and information.

Comminuty radio projects still exist in Tynedale - so your remark would appear to be incorrect.
